SPQR Sweatshirt portrays the letters SPQR surrounded by a laurel wreath. SPQR is an abbreviation for Senatus Populusque Romanus (The Senate and People of Rome).  It appears on Roman currency, at the end of documents made public by an inscription in stone or metal, and in dedications of monuments and public and civil works. During the regime of Benito Mussolini, SPQR was emblazoned on a number of public buildings and manhole covers.
